Classes are suspended today at the Asipulo Central School and the nearby Asipulo National High School in barangay Amduntog in said town in Ifugao after a hacking incident that killed one elementary pupil and wounded 10 others.
The police report states that the incident occurred at around 330 PM Wednesday involving a certain Davis Bullong who hacked the 11 school children. The victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment after responding police had the suspect neutralized.
However, one of the children, still unidentified, died while being treated.
In a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Public Information Office – Asipulo, the local government unit “seek your support and unity during this trying time. We also ask all of us to share our sympathies with the family of the victim who did not survive and pray for those who were severely injured by the untoward incident.”
It added: “The Municipal Government of Asipulo enjoins everyone to stay alert and vigilant and as far as practicable, stay at home.”
Thus, the local government after coordinating with the Department of Education – Asipulo District suspended classes today in said schools “for the sake of the pupils and students who were traumatized by the incident.”
The Asipulo LGU likewise requested “other schools and institutions to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of their students, employees and clients.”
It added that local police “is still investigating the incident and reports are still coming in as of posting time.”
