With the start of school year, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) has intensified patrols in school.
According to PMaj. Harriet Bulcio, Public Information Officer of BCPO, “We deploy our personnel in front of schools to ensure their safety when they leave school and go home.”
“It is very important for them to have IDs because that is how we identify the students from City High and ensure that only authorized individuals enter the school. There are many potential cases where unauthorized individuals could be inside the school, so it is important to have security guard patrolling,” says Jennifer Pinlac, Master Teacher II at Baguio City National High School (BCNHS).
On the first day of school yesterday, July 29, more than 68,000 students returned to school.
Along with this, more than 1,000 police were deployed by the agency to guard 66 public schools in the city.
In addition, BCPO will also critically monitor traffic flow in the city, especially during morning and afternoon rush hours.
