The Pangasinan Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Ramon V. Guico III, focuses not only on healthcare but also on education.
On November 5, Governor Guico personally visited the Philippine College of Science and Technology with a goal—to give students a small gift.
More than 1,000 students received PHP 1,000 each as part of the educational assistance payout held in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
Governor Guico also distributed shoes to the students.
Students also enjoyed free meals provided by Guicosina on Wheels.
Meanwhile, Governor Guico gamely interacted and danced with the students.
He also introduced the Government Unified Incentives for Medical Consultation or the GUICONSULTA Program.
Governor Ramon V. Guico III mentioned, “Aside from education assistance, we’ve set this up. I want to introduce to everyone what we call GUICONSULTA. This program offers free check-ups. Let your parents know. If they visit the barangay and don’t have PhilHealth, we will enroll them. This way, if someone gets hospitalized, they will have medical insurance. It’s a big help. That’s why we are improving our hospitals, because we’ve noticed that while we prepare budgets for food, school, and leisure, health emergencies catch us off guard. Isn’t that right? We’re helping all Pangasinenses get PhilHealth and encouraging everyone to have yearly check-ups. We’ll even cover your transportation costs.”
The students of the Philippine College of Science and Technology expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the gifts they received from the provincial government.
“I thank Governor Ramon Guico III because what he gave is so important, especially for students like me who come from underprivileged families. This will help with our education, transportation, and food expenses,” said Jayson Soriano, a student.
“Super thankful for what they provided because it helps us a lot as students. There are so many school expenses, especially tuition fees,” said Erika Mae Villanueva, also a student.
Governor Guico was joined by Board Members Dr. Shiela Baniqued and Vici Ventanilla.
The provincial government plans to visit other schools to reach more students with educational assistance.
