But what exactly is the difference between a Regular and a Special Non-working Holiday?

A Regular Holiday has a fied date that cannot be changed, such as New Yearโ€™s Day, Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), Andres Bonifacio Day, Eidโ€™l Fitr, and Christmas.

Meanwhile, a Special Non-working Holiday can have its date changed according to Presidential Declaration, such as Maundy Thursday, Chinese New Year, and All Saintsโ€™ Day.

In total, we celebrate 20 holidays in the Philippines every year.

Aside from these, cities, towns, provinces, and regions also have their own holidays.

In the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cordillera Day is celebrated on July 15 and is a Special Non-working Holiday.

In Baguio City, Baguio Day is celebrated on September 1 and is also a Special Non-working Holiday.

Even festivals like the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City and the Strawberry Festival in La Trinidad are considered holidays.

Holiday are not just days for rest.
