14 YEARS OF RIDING WITH LA UNION CYCLES IN ACTION MOTORCYCLE CLUB (LUCIAMC)

The voluntary sector usually comprises organizations whose purpose are to benefit and enrich society, often without profit as a motive and with little or without government intervention.

In February of 2011, La Union Cycles in Action Motorcycle Club (LUCIAMC) was formed by Ms. Maria Theresa “Wenny” Monis and other riders, who has the heart to ride motorcycles, talk about motorcycles, and simple be around motorcycles in the Municipality of Bauang, La Union.

It was just a dream of 18 pioneer riders a year before it was formed.

LUCIAMC visions to provide a family-type environment for friends and families that shares the same passion of riding the motorcycle.

It is a family of profession, men and women that values brotherhood, sisterhood, loyalty, and peace, also, to ride together, break bread together, and serve their communities together.

This club is building a strong and positive relationship for people who shares dedication for motorcycle riding. Further, they protect a positive and safety conscious image of riders in the community at large.

LUCIAMC is devoted in providing society activities especially in the urban areas and fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie between all nation.

“We are also dedicated in our efforts to lead by example, as well as continuous passion to be educated and informed on all levels of the motorcycle community, and representing a culture of new bikers that gained admiration of those who rode the hi-ways before us”, backbone of the group – Monis couple (Wenny and Freddie) stated.

The organization started conducting activities right after it was formed in 2011. These includes feeding programs, fitness & cleanliness programs, coastal clean-ups, barangay community clean-up drive, tree planting activities, linis kalikasan, gift giving to marginalized resident of Bauang, gift giving & treats to children, brigade eskwela, medical missions, blood donations, and many more.

The even organized a dance competition entitled “Sayaw, Hataw, Galaw,” to encourage the youth to perform and showcase their talents.

With the success of the competition held, the LGU of Bauang has given them the privilege to be included in the programs of the town fiesta.

Also, the Bauang PNP initiated a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the group in 2015 to bind and strengthen their partnership in the fight against criminality in the municipality of Bauang.

In the same year, LUCIAMC started their yearly visit at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) performing a special treat to the persons deprived of liberty (PDL). This includes gift giving, feeding program, and free haircuts.

They also provide traffic management by becoming one of the force multipliers which benefits the whole municipality, especially, during special occasions.

Beyond everything, the group promotes safe riding to ensure that the riders will be able to come home to their families safe and sound.

For the past 14 years, they have earned recognition and appreciation from various groups, agencies and communities.
