BREAKING NEWS!

2 MILLION KILOS OF SALT, SOLD BY THE PANGASINAN SALT CENTER

Aside from the Laoac Dairy Farm, the administration of Governor Ramon V. Guico III has also revitalized the salt industry.

This was through the provincial government’s takeover of the operations of the Pangasinan Salt Center in the town of Bolinao.

This is the largest salt production facility in the entire country, spanning 473 hectares.

Aside from being a primary product of Pangasinan, the province’s name also originates from salt.

Alongside President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s campaign to revive the salt industry, the province also aims to become the country’s number one producer.

In fact, the Philippine Coconut Authority purchased more than 4,000 sacks of agricultural-grade salt fertilizer from the Pangasinan Salt Center.

Each sack of agricultural-grade salt fertilizer is equivalent to fifty kilos.

Because of this, they sold approximately two million kilos to the Philippine Coconut Authority in 2024.

These will be distributed and used as fertilizers by coconut farmers in various parts of the country such as Albay, Iloilo, Cebu, Leyte, Davao, and General Santos.

In fact, other large companies have also visited the salt center to purchase salt.

It can be recalled that on May 22, 2024, the Provincial Board approved a resolution allowing the provincial government to supply salt to the Philippine Coconut Authority.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga also praised the provincial government for the successful establishment of the Pangasinan Salt Center.
