20-YEAR-OLD MOTORCYCLE RIDER, DIED AFTER COLLIDING AND SLIDING UNDER A TRUCK

It took rescuers 30 minutes to extricate the two men who slid under a truck yesterday morning, October 29.

Their motorcycle collided with an oncoming truck along the stretch of Barangay Camp 7.

According to the truck’s helper, the motorcycle was speeding.

According to Noel Dela Cruz, a truck helper, “While going downhill, the motorcycle couldn’t be controlled anymore, sliding and ending up underneath the truck.”

Five hours after being rushed to the hospital, the 20-year-old motorcycle driver, identified as Kervin Pal-a Nicholas, passed away.

“The driver and his backride sustained multiple injuries on different parts of their bodies. They were actually unconscious when they were brought to the hospital,” said PMaj. Marcy Grace Marron, Public Information Officer at Baguio City Police Office (BCPO).

The 20-year-old backride passenger, Homer Cabbigat Teg-ad, is still recovering in the hospital.

Police investigation revealed that the motorcycle driver allegedly lost control while traversing a curve.

The truck driver, Reynan Erasquin Casilang, may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and property damage but is temporarily released as no charges have been filed yet.
