Baguio City – Just 2 days after the year 2023 ended, a 3-storey house in Purok 18, Barangay Irisan, Baguio City got razed by fire which started around 5:00 in the afternoon.

According to some residents, an explosion coming from the said house was heard before smoke was seen coming out from the house and then came the fire.

Deugracio Viray, one of the residents of the purok stated that he was alarmed by the incident which urged him to immediately call the authorities.

“Sabi ko sa kanya, may sunog tawag kayo sa may fire department kako, yung apo niya tumawag agad”, he added.

Baguio’s Bravest spokesperson SFO1 Lloyd Ashley Furigay said that there was an immediate response after receiving the report of the said incident.

“Mag-gather pa tayo, titingnan kasi natin lahat ng anggulo na pwedeng pagmulan ng sunog and then magtatanong rin tayo sa kapitbahay kung ano yung naobserve nila”, Furigay stated.

BFP Baguio declared the fire out around 6:00 in the afternoon.

In addition, initial damage from the fire reached up to 2 million pesos, affecting 1 family, while authorities are still conducting further investigation to identify the cause of the fire. Jose Robert Inventor
