They say that no matter how long the procession is, it always ends at the church.
But for these four couples in Baguio City, they didn’t exchange vows in a church, it happened inside a jail.
On Friday, February 14, in time for Valentine’s Day, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Baguio held its “Love Behind Bars” program.
One of those who got married was Janvert, who has been detained at the Baguio City Jail Male Dorm for over two months.
According to him, he and his partner had been together for six years and had already planned to get married before.
But ironically, it was only after he was imprisoned that he was finally given the opportunity to marry.
In fact, his wife is already six months pregnant.
Janvert and his three fellow detainees were carefully selected by Baguio City Jail Male Dorm officials, in coordination with the local government.
The wedding ceremony was officiated by the city’s mayor himself.
The stories of Janvert and his fellow inmates prove that nothing can stand in the way of true love, not even bars and prison walls.
