Clem Encarnacion is one of the city’s luckiest anglers which hopes to carry when he returns to the Burnham Lake on April 1.

Encarnacion hopes Hopes to catch something  like what he caught in December 8 last year – a rare he two feet five pounder pacu.

It was one of those rare nights when he was just one of the only two lucky guys who caught the “big one” at the lake which has been frugal the past four months.

His feat came two months after he won the September 1 Baguio Day Fishing Tournament on September 1 where the other lucky guy, Dino Pascual caught a 33 inch four kilo catfish, the biggest ever caught at the lake which has tilapia as the most populous denizens, just two weeks before.

Pascual was, however, unlucky during the Baguio Day event, the second fishing event at the lake after the city allowed recreational fishing at the lake.

Encarnacion said that he be competing on April 1 during the Summer Fishing Competition at the Lake where 55 anglers are expected to compete, the biggest ever, the fourth in a year round four event competitions.

“Oh yeah, I will, lots of competition,” he said of the competition now organized by Covid 19 survivor Rafael Serrano after it was started by the Media for Sports Development in June 12 last year as part of the city’s Saleng Festival.

With the summer fishfest, competitions is expected to be a quarterly event now and the April 1 competition completes the four stage event, as Serrano now wants to institutionalize the event. Pigeon Lobien
