ASINGAN, Pangasinan — A total of 54 women in Asingan participated in a bread and pastry training workshop organized by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in partnership with the local government, as part of the National Women’s Month celebration aimed at promoting livelihood opportunities.
The activity, titled “Oven of Opportunities: Women’s Bread and Pastry Making,” was held at the municipal auditorium and gathered participants from various sectors, including 4Ps beneficiaries, civil society groups, municipal employees, and local officials.
During the training, participants learned how to prepare and produce baked goods such as pandesal, ensaymada, dinner rolls, and oatmeal cookies, which they can turn into small business ventures.
Asingan Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. encouraged the participants to develop their skills and use them as a source of income.
The initiative was led by the Asingan Local Council of Women under the leadership of Vice Mayor Heidee Chua, highlighting efforts to empower women through skills development.
Meanwhile, female personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Pangasinan demonstrated their strength and capability through a special action team operation held as part of the Women’s Month celebration and Hundred Islands Festival 2026.
Members of the Pangasinan 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company showcased various tactical maneuvers, emphasizing their readiness to maintain public safety and security.
Officials said the activity highlights that courage, skill, and dedication in law enforcement are not defined by gender, while also recognizing the vital role of women in nation-building and public service.
