54-YEAR-OLD SCAVENGER, DIES AFTER BEING BEATEN BY TWO INTOXICATED MEN IN BAGUIO CITY

The CCTV footage from 3:40 AM on Wednesday, January 22, shows two men attacking a man along Longlong Road in Barangay Pinsao Proper, Baguio City.

The assault spilled into the middle of the road, where the victim fell to the ground.

The man attempted to stand, but the suspects kicked and stomped on him multiple times.

After more than three minutes of assault, the two men walked away, leaving the victim on the road.

The victim was later identified as 54-year-old Robin Bakod Laguyo, a scavenger in the area.

According to PB. Raymund Laxamana, Barangay Pinsao Proper, “The victim had been staying here since the pandemic.”

A concerned citizen reported the incident at around 4 AM, but the victim was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Police reviewed CCTV footage and identified the suspects as 15 and 18-year-old residents from La Trinidad.

It was revealed that the suspects were intoxicated during the incident.

KGWD. Johnny Lee, Barangay Pinsao Proper, Baguio City, mentioned, “They were under the influence, which is why they did it.”

PMAJ. Marcy Grace Marron, Public Information Officer – Baguio City Police Office, stated, “Initial investigation revealed they attacked the victim randomly.”

The victim sustained more than just bodily injuries.

“He had blunt trauma to the head, which caused his death,” Marron added.

The suspects were immediately arrested.

The 18-year-old suspect faces homicide charges, while the 15-year-old suspect, being a minor, was referred to the DSWD as a child in conflict with the law.

The victim’s family is calling for justice.
