80 students from Pangasinan to receive a scholarship from a foundation in South Korea

A successful signing ceremony between the LOTTE Scholarship Foundation of South Korea and four Higher Educational Institutions in Pangasinan was done last March 8, 2024, at Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Founded in 1983, LOTTE Scholarship Foundation has been long known for supporting ASEAN and South Asia education by offering scholarships and initiating educational welfare projects.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between this charity group and the academic institutions, namely, Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PCC), Pangasinan State University (PSU), University of Eastern Pangasinan (UEP), Binalatongan Community College (BCC), provides 80 underprivileged students with access to higher education.

“80 slots po for scholarship among 450 dollars po per semester.” Pangasinan Vice Governor Mark De Guzman Lambino said.

The ceremony was headed by Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III, Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino, Board Members, Department Head, and the Presidents of the four academic institutions. Whereas, the representative for the LOTTE Scholarship Foundation was Chairwoman Chang Haesun.

“We’re very grateful na tayo po ang unang binigyan ng LOTTE Foundation dito sa buong Pilipinas.” Vice Governor Lambino added.

As per their agreement, there are no specific courses required as it is at the discretion of the HEIs to decide who will be granted the scholarship.

Overall, this agreement was said to be a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities and cultural exchange.
