Yesterday morning, October 13, a floating body was spotted in the Abra River in Barangay Mabungtot, Langiden, Abra.
The barangay residents immediately reported it to the police, and upon arriving at the scene, it was confirmed to be the body of a man.
The clothes and tattoo on the body matched the description of the man who drowned in the town of Bangued on October 6.
He was quickly identified as James Española, 23 years old, and a resident of Barangay Calaba, Bangued, Abra.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) added that the river’s water level rose due to heavy rains brought by localized thunderstorms in the province when the incident occurred.
A 14-year-old boy drowned in a creek in Baguio City.
This happened after he jumped into a creek in Baguio City.
However, when the children were caught trying to take the bike, they were confronted by the homeowner.
According to the PNP, the creek where the victim fell was 12 meters deep, and the boy was declared dead on arrival when brought to the hospital.
The police are still searching for the other child who was with the victim.
