Their daughter— Governor Ma. Jocelyn Valera-Bernos bared on Friday morning her parents — Mayor Dominic Valera and Vice mayor Mila Acosta-Valera — are both positive of the virus.

The confirmation was received by the family on September 2, 2021, the lady governor announced in her facebook post.

The Valeras were both vaccinated with anti-Covid 19 vaccines though.

Governor Valera-Bernos, who also earlier contracted the virus said, they are thankful that her parents have only mild symptoms.

Bernos appealed to the people who have been in close contact with her parents, especially those in the municipal building of Bangued to inform immediately the Rural Health Unit (RHU) to help speed up contact tracing efforts. She also appealed to the close contacts to submit themselves for quarantine until they will be cleared by the RHU.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) announced that the COVID-19 Isolation Building of the Abra Provincial Hospital (APH) has reached full capacity as of September 3, 2021. The management of the APH also announced that starting September 3, there will be a extension facility for the treatment of COVID-19 suspects while awaiting for their test results.

Gov. Bernos continued to appeal to all Abrenians to strictly follow health protocols and stay at home if there are no important reasons to go out of their houses. She also is strongly urging the public especially the senior citizens to avail of the vaccines to shield them from severe effects of the virus.
