Abra Covid cases swelling, no recovered patient in six days

For the past six days, no Covid-19 patient has recovered in Abra.

Department of Health – Cordillera records show that no recoveries have been logged in Abra, the province with the least Covid-19 infection in the region but has somewhat showed high cases this month.

After 162 persons recovered on September 22, the province has no recoveries since then as the region showed 2,687 persons surviving.

Of these number 1,782 came from Baguio, followed with 1,008 in Benguet. Kalinga, which has eased past Apayao as the third worst hit province in the region starting middle this month showed 320 persons given a green light to go back to normal by doctors.

Mountain Province, which has the least cases for this month and has dropped to sixth from a high of third in total confirmed cases, showed 239 recoveries followed by Apayao.

Ifugao has 208 recovered Covid-19 patients during the six day period.

During the same period, Abra logged 614 cases as it now moved to third spot in the most number of active cases with 1,149 and only behind Baguio (4,530) and Benguet (3,425), DoH Cordillera reports showed.

For the month of September, Abra logged 1,646 new cases which accounts to 48 percent of the province’s 3,543 confirmed cases since March of last year.

During the same six-day period, Baguio accounted nearly third of the 5,455 cases that brought its total confirmed cases just for the month at 6,767 or more than 241 cases a day. The 28 day total for Baguio is now more than twice the April mark of 3,046.

Benguet’s six day total of 1,419 is about 25 percent of the 5,180 cases for this month which in turn is about a fourth of its total confirmed cases of 16,353.

Kalinga’s six day sum of 711 is less than a third of its 2,377 September total to move past Apayao for third and pushed its total confirmed 7,992 cases.

Apayao has the second least six day total of 228 and 2,129 total for the month as the region’s smallest local government unit in terms of population has the fourth biggest number of cases with 7,431.

Ifugao had a six day total of 616 upping its September total to 1,860 and total confirmed cases of 7,016.

Mountain Province has the lowest six day total of 141 and the only LGU with a three digit September total of 666 pushing its total confirmed cases to 5,221.

Abra and Baguio was declared under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions last September 24 by the Inter-Agency Task Force.
