Abra starts massive Covid-19 vaccination drive with Sinovac arrival

Abra started its massive Covid-19 vaccination drive for government health workers today after the arrival of 5,050 Sinovac Monday.

With Abra Gov. Jocelyn Bernos expected return to work after 16 days of isolation due to her contracting the Covid-19 virus, frontline workers like barangay health workers and health emergency response team will be given the first of two doses today.

Vaccination for frontline workers from the national agencies like Departments o Education, Social Welfare and Development, Interior Local Government as well as Bureau of Corrections and Jail Management and Penology also started today.

“Vaccination will start tomorrow (March 30),” said National Immunization coordinatoor Maryjune Adriatico which was posted over the Abra Province Facebook page.

Meanwhile. 475 Sinovac vaccines have already arrived to be used as second dose for the first batch of vaccinees last March 8.

According to records of the Provincial Health Office, some 1,014 health workers have already received their first dose of vaccine.

The governor is expected to return to work after undergoing two successive RT – PCR tests to confirm that she is negative of the virus.

Bernos expressed her eagerness to get back to work after more than two weeks of isolation at the hospital and home to battle the disease.
