LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – It is game time for the members of the Benguet dancesport team as they seek medals in the Jamili’s Scholarship Cup today and tomorrow.

And the team came to the online dancesport competition more ready with them at least training daily for at least three days with coach Charibelle Pingawan doing one on one trainings.

“We are set for tomorrow,” said Pingawan Friday night on their last day of training before the big two days.

“We were given a special permit last June 9,” said the coach, who worked out with the municipal government on how they can train at their “homebase” at Quad Fitness gym for today’s competition.

“It is cheaper actually if (we train) here (at) Quads, because I can do one on one training at a minimal cost,” Pingawan told RNG Luzon.

The team actually competed at Bodybase at Session Road in Baguio City when La Trinidad was declared under modified enhanced community quarantine for much of the month of May.

Then the province was further declared under MECQ by the Inter-agency Task Force for emerging disease for the first half of June.

Pingawan described it as “struggle” as they have to ferry to Baguio in order to train.

“If (training) is at Bodybase, it is ideal for group classes. And I needed one on one training because they will be competing in different categories, so getting the special permit was good because we can train and compete at the venue,” she explained.

The team is hoping to improve on their past performances and again win.

Last month, the Benguet dancesport team took home a gold, a silver and four bronze medals in the Manila Open Online Dancesport Competition 2021 at the Quads Fitness Gym here.

Partners Mico Dumalos and Mark Benter provided the lone gold for the team after silver medal finishes in their first two online competitions this year.

The team first saw action last February in the 8th Geraldine Online Dancesport Competition where they won a gold, three silver medals and a bronze.

Last April, they took home four silver medals First Annual Diamond Online Dancesport Competition.

The team will be competing also in the Korea Open on June 26 and 27.
