Armed men kill truck driver along halsema highway in Benguet

Three still unidentified armed men killed a truck driver along the Halsema Highway (Baguio-Bontoc national road) in Kilometer 28, Caliking, Atok, Benguet Tuesday dawn, giving headaches to investigators finding out what prompted the stealthily-done assasination.

Cordillera police said Crisanto Pias Kiblasen, 27, a native of Sadsadan, Bauko, Mt. Province, was with two companions onboard a forward truck bearing plate number RHN 729 heading towards Baguio City at around 3:50AM Tuesday when a brown Innova blocked them to a halt.

Three armed men reportedly alighted from the brown AUV and ordered them to move out from the forward truck. One of the suspects reportedly shot Kiblasen and then the suspects told the two ordered the two to run away.

The incident was reportedly to the Atok police station at around 4:20AM.

Information was not immediately available if the forward truck was taken by the three assailants.

On December 9, last year, two robbery carnapping suspects were killed while another cohort died in the hospital after a gunfight with policemen along the Lamut-Shilan Road, in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Several months before that, five robbery-carnapping gangmen, all coming from Pampanga, were also killed in a firefight with policemen along Marcos Highway in Tuba, also in Benguet.
