With a gun salute and floral offering at the Rizal Monument, Baguio City commemorated the greatness of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
Despite the rain, the activities pushed through.
On the 128th anniversary of Rizal’s death, the theme revolved around “Rizal in the New Philippines: The Life and Teachings We Follow.”
The lessons and legacy of the national hero serve as inspiration for Michael, who strives to be a better person at a young age.
“For the youth, the so-called hope of the nation, even if life is difficult, we study and work hard to overcome poverty,” said Christian Adelan.
Today is also an opportune moment to reflect on and recognize Rizal’s teachings, using them as guidance for good governance.
Sol Go emphasizes, “We should ask ourselves: What will be our legacy? What kind of future will we leave for our children?”
In his message, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong urged the public to remain vigilant and speak out against corruption and anomalies in governance.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed, “It’s not enough to remember Rizal only on the day of his death. As Filipinos, we must make noise. This is one way to bring lasting change for future generations.”
In today’s celebration, it is hoped that Rizal will not only be remembered for his novels but also for his teachings, inspiring the protection of the freedom our country enjoys today.
