Highlighting their skillful maneuvers and daring feats, riders hailing from La Union and across the nation converged for the inaugural Ayat Motocross Cup Night Race 2024 held at the La Union Convention Center Grounds in Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union last March 23-24, 2024.
The two-day racing extravaganza stood out as a key feature of the Ayat Fest: The 174th La Union Founding Anniversary, drawing in an audience of over 3,000 spectators. Spearheaded by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), under the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, and with the support of First Gentleman and Executive Assistant V Kevin David, the event aimed to bolster the development initiatives of the La Union Police Provincial Office, contributing to KaPROBINSYAnihan in the province’s remote areas.
Prior to kickstarting the races, riders underwent comprehensive safety briefings covering precautions to be observed before, during, and after the races, ensuring their well-being. Amidst the buzz of the event, Gov. Rafy made a personal appearance, extending warm greetings to the participants and affirming the event’s significance in showcasing the province’s offerings.
Reflecting on the event’s impact, Gov. Rafy emphasized its continuity, reassuring attendees that the Ayat Motocross Cup would become a fixture, citing its importance in bolstering tourism and fundraising efforts.
Adding to the excitement were celebrity guests and professional riders, including Team Motul, Kiko Matos, Pia Gabriel, Ompong Gabriel, Glenn Aguilar, Mclean Aguilar, Jolet Jao, Ted Conde, Team Perya, Iloilo Team, Rellosa Bros, Ramento Bros, 87 Racing, Magbual Racing, Kojiesan Team, and Ilocos Riders. With 350 participants from various corners of the country showcasing their skills on the track, the atmosphere was electrifying.
Expressing gratitude towards Gov. Rafy and the organizers for providing the platform, one rider underscored the event’s role in contributing to #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, stating, “We are grateful to be part of this… We are super thankful for the opportunity to showcase our talents… while also contributing to La Union, it’s truly fulfilling.”
