Authorities in Baguio City are investigating a theft incident at a local café after a man was caught on CCTV stealing a bag on the afternoon of April 9.
The suspect, initially posing as a customer, entered the café around 4:30 p.m., observed the area, and grabbed a bag from one of the tables before casually walking out.
According to “Zel,” one of the café staff members, the bag contained the café’s keys, receipts, and a customer’s wallet with P200 and various IDs.
The theft occurred while a staff member briefly went upstairs, leaving the entrance open due to the heat.
Later that evening, a customer returned to inquire about a lost wallet, prompting the staff to review CCTV footage, which confirmed the theft.
Other nearby establishments have since become more vigilant. Richard, a front desk officer, said they are closely monitoring their surroundings with CCTV systems.
Barangay officials from New Lucban, where the incident occurred, have begun investigating the suspect’s identity.
Barangay councilor Clifford Iked reminded establishments to secure their premises and remain alert, especially at night.
This marks the second reported theft in the barangay this year.
