Completion of the PHP391 million Youth Convergence and Sports Complex at the Baguio athletic bowl will be pushed six months later.
City administrator Bonifacio dela Pena said Wednesday that problems with the city drainage which was diverted caused the delay.
Dela Pena said that it took the contractor six months to divert the drainage which is just underneath the soon to rise building.
The project should be completed by December 2023 but is now moved to June 2024, dela Pena said during the Ugnayan organized by the Public Information at the Baguio City Hall multi-purpose Hall.
The Sicat Construction project has so completed the basement or parking area and is now implementing the walling which has permanently cut off the old entrance to the Baguio City National High School.
The building will house the youth convergence center for the Sangguniang Kabataan as well as gyms for combative sports and the basketball court at the top floor.
Groundbreaking for the project was made in March last year with a PHP59 Million coming from the Department of Public Works and Highways and a PHP241 M counterpart from the city.
The PHP 50 million will be used for the parking, the first floor and the posts, where PHP25 million has been downloaded by the DPWH to the city.
Dela Pena they are still working with the DPWH the release of the second half but it will not cause the stoppage of construction.
Meanwhile, construction of the PHP105 million tennis court is on the right track, while the PHP10 million gate is proceeding smoothly. The athletes quarters construction is also right on track. Pigeon Lobien
