At a young age, Dare developed a passion for sports. He initially trained in Wushu before transitioning to kickboxing. This year, he ventured into Muay Thai.
Despite being new to the sport, he represented Baguio City at the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2025 and immediately won a gold medal.
Dare Malecdan, Nak Muay/Mai Muay Athlete, shared, “These are my secrets to winning gold in Muay Thai. I have experience in Wushu, kickboxing, and Muay Thai.”
On February 24, Dare competed against representatives from Benguet, Tabuk City, and Kalinga. He secured a gold medal and two bronze medals, achieving an overall score of 87.6.
Despite being a newcomer, he displayed determination and discipline in the sport.
More than just winning, Dare is also grateful for the friendships he has formed through Muay Thai.
“My medal is for winning first place in Muay Thai, and this is my special award for being the best in Muay Thai,” Malecdan added.
“The importance of friendship is that we encourage each other to keep training and represent our school,” said Xyhlord Medina.
Dare’s gold medal is the third gold won by Baguio City in this year’s CARAA Meet.
The regional sports competition will continue until February 28.
