Baguio will be one of the nine host cities in the World Archery Philippines Evaluation Virtual Tournament and 2021 Southeast Asian Games Qualifier tomorrow, March 20, at the Baguio Athletic Bowl.
Pines Archery Club president and Pines City National High School archery coach Andy Villamor said that more than 100 archers from all over the Philippines will be seeking to improve their ratings in the WAP standing.
“More they will vie for slots in the Philippine team for the 2021 SEAG in Vietnam,” added the school teacher cum musician.
He said that top players from the various schools here will vie for slots to the SEAG, a slot which has been held by University of Baguio alumna Kareel Meer Hongitan the past two stagings and who was part of the team that took home a bronze medal in the 2017 SEAG.
Aside from Baguio, hosts cities will be Belarmino in Manila, the Manila Polo in Makati and in Novaliches, Quezon City.
Similar virtual tournaments will be staged in Cebu and Dumaguete in the Visayas, while Gen. Santos, Davao and Koronadal will be venues in the Mindanao area.
Games will be from 8AM to 12 Noon for lunch break, then archers will resume shooting at 1 until 4 PM, said Villamor.
Villamor said that instead of the PAC area beside the swimming pool, target area is set at the field of the oval using the recently donated target stands by the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1986 as well as the monitor used in virtually scoring the output of the players.
