Baguio readies for more restrictions as it logs 155 new cases in a day

The Baguio City Health Services Office (HSO) confirmed that there are 155 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.

Thus bringing the active cases to 433, though there were no Covid-related deaths.

There are already five barangays with puroks or areas placed under lockdown.

This ahead of the declaration that

Baguio City will be placed under alert level 3 together with some towns and provinces in the country.

Recently, the City Government of Baguio issued new guidelines on travel restrictions going in and out of the city.

Meanwhile, as of 6:00 AM (January 8, 2021), the HSO disclosed the total occupancy rate of city’s isolation facilities. Dr. Alice Torres of the HSO said the occupancy rate in the isolation facilities is 46.29 % and there are still available 122 beds out of 350.

The occupancy rate in quarantine facilities is 30.77 and there are available 36 beds out of 52. The total occupancy rate is 44.28 percent.

Baguio City Epidemiologist Donnabel Tubera-Panes said that they are expecting the upsurge in the coming days as indicator showed ongoing active transmission. She said factors that contributed to the rising number of cases are the increase of people mobility and the lag time in testing.
