BAGUIO SCOUTS, TAKE ON CITY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS’ ROLES

Lindsay joined the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) when she was in Grade 3.

Here, she developed her leadership and service skills, which inspired her dream of becoming a soldier.

Besides this, it played a big role in shaping her personality.

That’s why, in this rare opportunity, she was one of the chosen scouts to sit as a councilor today, October 21, in the Scout Officials for a Day program, a project of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the city government.

Another student who sat as a councilor today is Grade 9 student Zariyah.

One of her plans for the council is the preservation of indigenous arts.

Meanwhile, Vishanne from Pines City National High School took the role of city mayor.

In her message, she emphasized gender equality and the need to nurture every youth’s potential to contribute to society’s development.

Fifty-five scouts took their oaths and sat as city officials today in Baguio City.

This program is one of the highlights of the Scouting Month celebration, with the theme, “Our Guiding Journey: Empowering Scouting for the Next Century and Beyond.”

This activity proves that leadership is no longer based on age or gender but on confidence and leadership knowledge.
