A new direct bus route between Baguio City and Baler, Aurora has begun operations, offering a more convenient travel option for residents and travelers alike.
Among those who welcomed the new route is 73-year-old Florentina Español from Dipaculao, Aurora.
She has long struggled with various health issues and frequently travels to Baguio to consult specialists at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
“Traveling by van was really uncomfortable. It’s cramped, it smells, and they drive too fast,” she said. “With the bus, it’s a big relief. It’s more spacious and safer.”
The Genesis Bus Line began its Baguio-Baler route on May 30.
According to Johnson Sanchez, the terminal supervisor, the route currently runs two trips per day in each direction.
“We only have one bus going to Baler and one returning to Baguio daily,” Sanchez said. “A lot of people are asking and calling about the schedule, especially students. Many are happy about this service.”
One of the drivers, Clarito Amatorio Jr., shared how their routes differ from other lines. “We pass through Binalonan, Tayug, Sta. Maria, and San Quintin,” he explained. “Other buses go through Urdaneta and Rosales.”
For college student Francis Leander, it was his first time taking the trip. “It’s much more comfortable compared to vans. It’s not too crowded.”
The Baler Municipal Tourism Office also sees the new route as a boost to local tourism.
Baler is known for its surfing spots, historical landmarks, and scenic beaches.
Genesis Bus Line plans to add more buses to the route in time for the upcoming school season, especially for students from Aurora who study in Baguio City.
