In December last year, road excavation began on a 100-meter stretch in Barangay Dominican Mirador, Baguio City.
However, progress was slow.
According to Kagawad Cecilia Aquino, Committee on Infrastructure – Barangay Dominican Mirador, “Work started around the first or second week of January, and it took a while because it was so long, and not every day had workers.”
After nearly two months, the project was finally completed.
Despite this, residents previously voiced complaints.
Similar delays occurred in other barangays affected by water pipe repairs.
The Baguio Water District clarified the reasons behind these delays.
“We have timelines and contracts, but there are delays due to the sheer volume of projects,” said Engr. Salvador Royeca, General Manager – BAWADI.
Challenges like rocky terrain and narrow roads also affect their work.
In San Carlos, the ground is rocky, and roads are narrow and winding. But it’s almost completed.
The agency appeals to residents for understanding.
This is for their benefit. Half of the segment is already activated, especially for the critical months.
They also assure the public of sufficient water supply during the holiday season.
