BARANGAYANIHAN, DISPLAYED THROUGH THE CREATION OF A MURAL ART IN BAGUIO CITY

BY: JOSE ROBERT INVENTOR

The lush mountains and simple living.

These are the themes of the mural art created in Barangay Guisad Surong, Baguio City.

“We truly showed the bayanihan spirit in our barangay. It’s beautiful,” said SK Chairman of the Barangay Guisad Surong.

The mural was started with the active participation of the residents.

And after a few months, here’s how the mural looks now.

It symbolizes the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ in the barangay or what they call “barangayanihan.”

For Nanay Cynthia, it feels like an early Christmas present after years of waiting for the moss-covered wall to be brought to life.

This year, the Sinagi Group of Artists and the barangay residents have painted 42 murals to promote creativity in the city.
