Benguet governor gives LGUs leeway in deciding operation of bars

Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas said that bars and other entertainment houses can operate depending on their respective local government units (LGUs).

Diclas said that as far as he is concerned, bars can actually already operate. He said this after the province is under Alert level 2 in accordance to the pronouncement of the InterAgency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID).

The governor stressed that the operations of entertainment establishments still depend on the decision of the respective LGUs of the 13 towns in the province. He said that they have the authority to do so because they know the actual situation of their area of responsibility.

Diclas though reminded that all the staff of bars and other entertainment houses should be fully vaccinated to be allowed to operate. The costumers who will enter their premises should also be required to present proof of full vaccination to ensure the safety of everyone.

As of Tuesday, the epidemic risk level of the 13 towns of Benguet is low, thus making the epidemic risk level of the whole province low.

The number of Benguet residents being vaccinated is relatively increasing.
