While working, Sherlyn cannot avoid falling ill.
Her income as a caller in a restaurant is also affected.
According to Sherlyn Ferrer, a PhilHealth Member, “Because it’s about health, and in case something happens to us, because we’re not robots, there are times we get sick.”
When she is hospitalized, she doesn’t worry because she can rely on PhilHealth.
She has also encouraged her relatives to become members. Their regular contributions have allowed her sister to give birth without any out-of-pocket expenses.
However, she has one request, “I hope there will be more funds allocated to PhilHealth. It would be better if the support is increased.”
Many were concerned when President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. decided that PhilHealth would not receive any subsidies for now.
The President assured that PhilHealth services would remain of high quality, as the agency still has sufficient sources of funding.
PBBM clarified, “Whether there is a subsidy or not, whether there are contributions or not, all these issues will be addressed, no matter what.”
Following this, a meeting was held with the Department of Health.
In his statement, the President emphasized that PhilHealth services must not be delayed despite the absence of a subsidy.
Additionally, he instructed DOH Secretary Herbosa to focus on strengthening preventive health measures instead of relying solely on treatment.
He also stressed the need to advance the digitalization of the Department of Health to provide better services to Filipinos.
