Many are excited to receive flowers as Valentine’s Day approaches, roses, sunflowers, tulips, and more.
But what if the flowers you receive are ones you thought were vegetables?
Yes, you heard that right!
Our favorite broccoli and cauliflower, often added to dishes like chopsuey, are actually flowers.
Broccoli florets are buds that haven’t fully bloomed.
If not harvested immediately, broccoli blooms into bright yellow flowers.
The same goes for cauliflower and artichokes.
Their leaves, commonly used in pasta, dips, and sauces, are actually flower petals.
But these flowers are not just for food.
Flowers are the reproductive parts of plants, producing pollen, seeds, and fruits that we consume.
So, here’s the question, If someone gives you broccoli or cauliflower this Valentine’s Day, would you be happy?
Who could resist a gift that’s both beautiful and nutritious?
