Lakay, Lions reunion of sorts in ONE Fight Night 14; Loman focused ahead of Lineker showdown

It looks like a reunion of sorts for estranged long time friends and partner Mark Sangiao and Eduard Folayang late September in Singapore.

Five months after the break up of what could be the best mixed martial arts gym in Asia, the two will finally meet each other when Stephen Loman faces former ONE bantamweight king John Lineker in the One Championship One Fight Night 14 in September 29.

Loman’s fight against the former ONE bantamweight champion will come after Folayang, his erstwhile stable mate and senior, who will make his debut as a Lions Nations.

Loman has been in deep training with Team Lakay for the past month where he was anticipating a title showdown with Fabricio Andrade but he believes once he hurdles the former world champion, the 31 – year – old is expected to vie for the title.

“Tuloy pa rin ang training. Despite what happened mataas pa rin ang morale, same pa rin ang mind set which is to train double time and win,” said Loman, whose moral remains high.

It will be no surprise if Loman hurdles Linecker, a known knock out artist with 18 of his 36 bouts came via stoppage while having 10 defeats

Loman said Team Lakay has been crafting a game plan that would counter Lineker’s punching abilities.

“We have to mixed it up against Lineker. When it comes to ground game yun ang magiging advantage natin pero we can also mix it up sa striking,” added Loman who currently holds a record of 16 – 2 win loss card and is currently undefeated in his last 11 bouts since falling to Rex De Lara in 2016.

Loman will also ride high on his recent victory against another world champion, Bibiano Fernandes in his last outing that grabbed the attention of Andrade for a possible title match.

It will be a fascinating clash of styles as Loman’s technical striking and precision will be pitted against Lineker’s raw power and aggression.

Loman, a former PXC and Brave CF champion, is renowned for his pinpoint striking, powerful kicks, and a relentless pace that leaves his opponents gasping for breath while Lineker, a Brazilian bruiser is known for his exceptional knockout power and granite chin.

With ONE Championship’s bantamweight division stacked with top talent, a victory for either Loman or Lineker could catapult them into title contention as both fighters are well aware of the stakes, and the hunger to secure a title shot will undoubtedly add an extra layer of intensity to this clash.

Folayang, on the other hand, returns to the octagon ring after a defeat in December 3 last year.

It will be the first time he will don the Lions Nation color and the first fight for the Team Lakay breakaway group that include former champions Kevin Belingon, Honorio Banario and Joshua Pacio. Pigeon Lobien
