When the news team arrived, 46-year-old Norman was still disoriented.
The 6-wheeler truck he was driving collided with another truck and overturned.
This happened while they were going down Marcos Highway, just past 1 PM on January 15.
According to Norman, they were on their way back to Pampanga to deliver cement.
“When we were up top, I already honked because I lost my airbrake,” said Norman Manalo, a truck driver.
He said he tried to control the truck and avoid a collision, but, “I had an oncoming vehicle, and when I tried to avoid it, that’s when it tipped over.”
He sustained bruises on various parts of his body, while his two passengers were injured.
PCPL. Jerson Garcia, Investigator – Tuba Municipal Police Station, mentioned, “According to the initial investigation, the truck lost its brakes before it overturned. It’s an accident-prone area because of the terrain, it’s an uphill road with curves.”
Due to the incident, 300 bags of cement scattered across the road, temporarily causing traffic congestion.
The police will conduct further investigation into the incident.
Norman is now in police custody and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and multiple physical injuries.
