City commends UC as one of country’s top law schools

The city council recently commended the University of the Cordilleras (UC) for being among the top law schools in the country based on the recent bar examination results. Councilors in a resolution stated that UC is indeed holding up the torch of knowledge and wisdom, making the city a renowned educational center of the north and a mecca of learning.

Further, the body said that the city government is truly proud and felicitates with the university and its graduates’ accomplishments and the honor. Supreme Court associate justice and chairperson of the 2020-2021 bar examination Marvic Leonen has earlier announced that 8,241 out of 11,202 examinees passed the 2020-2021 bar examinations which was the first digitalized bar exam in the country. And UC was named as among the top law schools in the country with an alumna placing third among the law schools in Group 1 with an excellent passer – Stephanie Mae Bibat Domingo.

Passers with excellent performance are those who garnered a grade or score of 91 percent and above. The resolution stated that UC has consistently exhibited exemplary performances in the previous examination years. In the 2019 bar examinations for example, UC placed ninth among the top 10 schools with at least 63 examinees. In the 2018 bar examination, on the other hand, UC ranked 23 out of the 108 law schools whose graduates took the examination.

The said report was based on the statistical data of the Supreme Court that was issued by the same board. The council added that the city has also commended Bibat-Domingo for her excellent performance rating garnered with a rating of over 90 percent in the said bar examination. Two graduates of the UC Law School has earlier topped the bar exams – Jeanet Abuel, now a Department of Budget and Management undersecretary and Noel Malimban.
