Clearing Operations, Continue in Pangasinan After Super Typhoon Uwan

by: Valerie Ann Dismaya

Following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan, clearing operations in Pangasinan continued in full swing as local authorities worked to restore normalcy across affected towns.

Personnel from the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office conducted inspections across key facilities and roadways to ensure public safety and remove fallen trees and debris that blocked major routes.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) also distributed relief goods to families severely affected by the typhoon, while provincial workers continued clearing operations to ease traffic flow.

Despite the widespread damage, government agencies remained steadfast in providing assistance to residents.

The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) joined the Provincial Engineering Office in clearing storm surge debris that washed onto Lingayen Beach Walk.

In Dagupan City, the Dagupan Electric Corporation carried out power restoration and repairs on toppled electric posts and damaged transformers.

While electricity has been restored in most areas, several isolated barangays remain without power.

Relief operations are ongoing in Dagupan City, where around 7,200 individuals were affected by the typhoon.

The city government distributed sleeping mats, blankets, and 4,000 pairs of slippers to displaced families.

Mayor Belen Fernandez said in a short statement, “We’re here in Barangay Calmay at Pangasinan Elementary School to distribute mats, toothbrushes, slippers, and blankets to our evacuees.”

City personnel have also begun cleaning roads, schools, and public facilities, as well as unclogging drainage systems blocked by waste.

The province of Pangasinan remains under a state of calamity, and classes are still suspended in most areas.
