CLOTHING AND SHOE THEFT INCIDENTS, EMERGE IN BAGUIO CITY

BY: ANGELICA ARQUERO

Several residents of Baguio City have come forward claiming to be victims of a female thief following the airing of a news report showing a woman stealing gallons of water from a home in Barangay Campo Filipino.

In a separate CCTV footage dated February 15, a woman was seen entering a home in Upper General Luna around 11:55 p.m.

She walked directly to the front door, peeked through to check if anyone was inside, then proceeded to the clothesline where she took hanging clothes before leaving the premises.

One of the victims, identified as Tina, said they recognized the woman from the viral water theft video as the same person who took their hanging clothes. “We were all eating when someone said a woman had entered the house. They thought it was me at first because of the colored hair,” Tina said. “When we reviewed our CCTV, that’s when we saw her taking the clothes.”

Tina expressed concern for her family’s safety, especially for her children. “It’s scary because she might be part of a scam group. She seems to know our routines already,” she added.

Just four days later, the same woman returned and was again captured on CCTV.

Around midnight, she loitered outside their home, appeared to check for people inside, and took more clothes from the clothesline before fleeing.

Another resident from Upper Bonifacio, a landlady identified as Beth, also shared her CCTV footage showing the same woman entering their boarding house.

She was seen standing at a door wearing a pair of shoes, which were later found missing along with a pair of slippers, amounting to approximately 1,000 pesos.

“I thought she was a guest of our boarders,” Beth said. “But when the kids reacted, they realized no one was visiting and some shoes were missing.”

Despite these incidents, the victims have not filed formal complaints.

However, the Baguio City Police Office is urging residents to report such cases to aid in investigations.

“It’s better if victims come forward so we can assess the situation and respond appropriately,” said PMaj. Marcy Grace Marron, public information officer of the Baguio City Police.

She also advised residents to secure their homes and consider installing CCTV cameras for added security.

Authorities are now working to identify the suspect and determine whether she is involved in other theft incidents in the city.
