The length of Baguio’s Session Road to Melvin Jones was filled with noise on the afternoon of January 30 due to the parade for the Chinese New Year 2025 celebration.
The parade was attended by government employees, schools, businesses, and establishments.
There were also performances that delighted the audience.
The parade started with the traditional lighting of firecrackers, believed to drive away evil spirits that bring bad luck.
Aside from the performances, one of the things people were excited about was the candy goodies thrown by those in the parade as a symbol of sharing good luck with everyone.
Everyone had their own tricks to collect as many as they could.
The parade has been an annual event in Baguio, especially as the Spring Festival celebration is part of the city’s tradition.
Under Ordinance No. 18, Series of 1999, the Baguio City government has mandated the grand celebration of Chinese New Year every year in partnership with the Filipino-Chinese community in Baguio.
They promised continued cooperation for the development of Baguio and its residents.
