With the enforcement of the election gun ban nationwide, COMELEC once again reminded the public about the policy.
This reminder was given during the Monday flag-raising ceremony in Pugo on January 27.
It falls under COMELEC Resolution No. 11067.
This resolution prohibits the carrying of any kind of firearm or deadly weapon in public places during the election period, from January 12 to June 11.
Only members of the police, military, other government agencies, and individuals with COMELEC authorization are allowed to carry firearms.
The goal is to prevent incidents of violence, especially during the election period.
Meanwhile, the Pugo Municipal Police Station recognized the contributions of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) in the town.
This recognition is for their role in maintaining peace and order during the Tinungbo Festival 2024–2025.
They were awarded certificates of appreciation, personally handed out by Pugo Mayor Kurt Walter Martin.
In the mayor’s message, he emphasized that maintaining peace and security in the town should not only be the responsibility of the police and BPATs but also of every citizen.
