The Cordillera Golfers Foundation Inc. (CGFI) officially opened its third annual “Golf for a Cause” tournament with a ceremonial tee-off, aiming to raise funds for various beneficiaries across the region while showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Apayao.
Since its inception in 2023, the tournament has served as a fundraising event to support community projects and programs in the Cordillera region. “This tournament is not just about playing golf; it’s about giving back to our communities,” said CGFI President Arnel Piel.
One of the participants in this year’s event is Apayao Governor Elias Bulut Jr., who emphasized the importance of joining such initiatives. “As a public servant, being part of activities like this allows us to help our fellow Cordillerans while enjoying the game,” he said.
Apayao is also hosting the tournament’s closing ceremony, providing an opportunity to highlight its unique cultural heritage and traditions. “This is a great chance to promote Apayao and the traditions that define us as Cordillerans,” Governor Bulut added.
The tournament has drawn 80 teams, with 340 players from different parts of the country and even overseas. It will run until April 5.
