Cordillera LGUs urged to come up with own tourism development plans

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Cordillera is recommending to the different local government units (LGUs) in the region to draw their own tourism development plans.

The agency also urges LGUs to promote new tourism attractions and activities in their respective places to be offered to the would-be tourists and visitors.

This as the movement restrictions and limitations are slowly easing up.

The said recommendation is in preparation to the full opening of tourism in the whole Cordillera.

As of now, ony Baguio City opened its doors ro tourism and other leisure travels to vaccinated visitors.

DOT Cordillera Officer in Charge Jovy Ganongan revealed that some provinces in the region has yet to come up with their tourism development plans as they are not yet ready to open their tourism. She said they are still depending on their quarantine status.

Ganongan said the DOT is always ready to help LGUs in making their plans to ensure the safe opening of their tourism activities. She added that they are also focusing on other tourism circuits and the agency is implementing assesment on the existing tourism sites.

DOT Cordillera is also campaigning for the full vaccination of all tourism stakeholders.
