As the Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness Day on March 24 nears, the Department of Health-Cordillera starts to spread awareness regarding the said disease.
To combat TB, a free chest x-ray programs was launched by the agency.
Led by Joycelyn Rillorta, DOH-CAR Nurse V, she explained that TB is a deadly disease that primarily affects the lungs wherein its symptoms include a fever that lasts two weeks, an unexplained fever, severe night sweats, and sudden weight loss.
“It is acquired or transmitted when the TB-positive coughs, sings or spews saliva after the bacteria have gone into the urine and come out early,” Rillorta adds.
The cure for this disease is offered free of charge and can be obtained from public hospitals and some private ones.
Moveover, to spread more awareness and to teach other getting prevention as early as possible, the DOH-CAR TB Mobil Clinic will be moving around the region.
