BY: VANESSA BUGTONG

Traffic was temporarily halted along Kennon Road after a car crashed into an electric post, causing it to fall and block the highway.

The incident occurred on March 24 in Barangay Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet.

According to police investigators, the 68-year-old driver was on his way home to Pampanga after traveling from La Trinidad when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the post.

“They were coming from La Trinidad and heading to Pampanga,” said Police Corporal Romeo Lep-ew Jr. of the Tuba Municipal Police Station.

One passenger sustained minor injuries from the accident.

“He was with his family at the time,” Lep-ew added.

The crash led to heavy traffic congestion in the area and also caused a temporary power outage.

“The driver reportedly dozed off, which led to the crash,” Lep-ew said. “They were initially taken to a hospital in Rosario but were later transferred to Pampanga.”

No other motorists were affected by the accident.

Power was restored after several hours, and the damaged electric post was promptly replaced.
