A 28-year-old male rider was found lying on the road at around 9:40 in the evening last December 3 along Lower Magsaysay Avenue.
His motorcycle had collided with the rear of a taxi.
“I arrived and saw that he had already fallen. I think he was coming from work, but that’s all I know,” Mark June Francisco, Companion of the Victim, narrated.
Police quickly responded to the incident. Their initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was speeding.
According to PSSg. Eric Quimado, Patrol Supervisor – Station 2, Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), “He sideswiped the taxi, so we brought the taxi to our station to determine who’s at fault. Motorists informed us about the accident while our checkpoint was ongoing.”
The victim, who sustained injuries to his head and hands, was immediately taken to the hospital.
The rider reportedly admitted to being drunk.
“He said it was a self-accident, but it turned out he sideswiped the taxi. He admitted he was drunk, so we’re taking him to the hospital,” Quimado added.
Meanwhile, at around 1:00 in the morning on December 4, authorities worked together to lift a van that had tipped over along Asin Road in Barangay San Luis, Baguio City.
The 21-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle while speeding downhill.
This caused the van to tip over, leading to heavy traffic in the area.
The driver was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
