DTI at TESDA nagsanib puwersa para sa livelihood training at community pantry sa Cervantes, Ilocos Sur

Labing limang miyembro ng Rural Improvement Club (RIC) ng Sitio Biwak, Barangay Malaya, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur ang nagsanay para sa Basic Skills Training on Food Processing na isinagawa ng Department of Trade and Industry. Isa si Josie Tico, daycare worker, ang nabenepisyuhan ng nasabing aktibidad kung saan naituro sa kanila kung paano gumawa ng potato stick at potato cheesy spread na pwede nilang ibenta sa kanilang lugar o sa ibang bayan.

Kilala ang Sitio Biwak bilang isa sa mga lugar dito sa Ilocos Sur na nag-aangkat ng patatas, repolyo, at iba pa. Maliban sa basic skills training, nagtayo din ng TESDA-Ilocos Sur ng isang community pantry o kung tawagin ay “TESDAmayan” kung saan libreng makakakuha ang mga residente ng kanilang pangangailangan.

Kung matatandaan, ang DTI at TESDA ay member-agencies ng Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) ng Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC). Nagbigay din ng seguridad ang 69th Infantry (COUGAR) Battalion of the 7th Infantry Division habang isinasagawa ang mga aktibidad.
