ENSURING FOOD SECURITY IN THE COUNTRY, FLOUR MILLING PLANT INAUGURATED IN SARIAYA, QUEZON

With wars erupting in other nations and calamities striking, one of the Marcos administration’s primary targets is addressing food security issues.

To tackle this, Universal Robina Corporation inaugurated a major flour milling plant in Sariaya, Quezon on November 29.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., together with URC Chairman Lance Gokongwei, led the event.

“In a time when every grain counts, this establishment will help ensure food security and the future of our nation,” said PBBM.

The plant, worth 5.4 billion pesos, also significantly impacts the country’s agricultural sector.

Additionally, it symbolizes a vibrant economy and investors’ high confidence in the country.

According to Lance Gokongwei, Chairman of the Universal Robina Corporation, “With the launch of this flour mill, we are helping lay a solid foundation in advancing food production and security in our country.”

President Marcos expressed gratitude for the corporation’s unwavering support in enhancing food security and strengthening the agricultural sector.

“Its capacity and technology will allow us to produce 3,500 metric tons of flour per daymensuring high-quality food on our tables,” PBBM stated.

Gokongwei assured the government of URC’s continued support in shaping the country’s agricultural landscape.

By January next year, the flour mill is expected to be operational, processing up to 297,000 metric tons of flour and 99,000 metric tons of bran and pollard annually. This will also generate more jobs for local residents.
