On August 19, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), together with the Public Order and Safety Division (POSD), began conducting a trial period for the proposed number coding exemption for senior citizens in the city.
This is set to end on October 19.
However, in just over a month, it seems that it is not practical to implement on the city’s roads.
Aside from this, the said proposed ordinance is reportedly being abused.
However, for Baguio City Councilor Jose Molintas, the author of the said proposed ordinance, it cannot yet be determined if it is effective or not.
The first trial exemption will end on October 19, while the second trial period will begin on October 22 and will run until November 22.
This study was conducted to determine whether the proposed exemption of senior citizens from the number coding scheme should be made into an ordinance.
In this exemption, drivers who are senior citizens or private vehicles with a senior citizen passenger, heading to work or for a medical check-up, are not subject to number coding.
