In recent months, Barangay Military Cut-off Road has admitted that they have struggled in their dengue prevention campaign.
They lack necessary equipment, such as sprayers for misting operations to drive away mosquitoes.
“There is also concern because we see the trend, especially during the rainy season,” says Kagawad Dante Fermin, Barangay Military Cut-off Road.
This is especially important as dengue cases have increased and some people have died in their barangay from January to September this year.
The shortage of sprayers in Baguio City barangays was addressed through a concert for a cause organized by Music 519 and Anchorwheel.
“We thought, why not have a concert for a cause, so we can buy equipment like misting machines,” says Rufino Madlon, Member of the Music 519.
“To help them strengthen their dengue eradication,” Benny Bosang, Representative of the Anchorwheel added.
With tickets costing only one hundred pesos, and additional funds raised from food sales, the Allibang family has made attending this event a weekly habit.
“The kids always request it every Friday, they want a concert, to help as well,” says Warren Allibang, a customer.
This cause was also supported by renowned Filipino Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Eduard Folayang.
Along with his teammates, they were among those who made donations.
“We are very thankful because Anchorwheel initiated this to help more of our fellow citizens. When we do a service to the community, I think that will always count,” says Eduard Folayang, MMA Fighter and also Customer.
The donations were distributed to 14 barangays in Baguio City under the Campo Filipino Health District.
“We are very happy to be beneficiaries of this concert for a cause; we are truly overjoyed,” says Fermin.
“The vision and mission of Anchorwheel is to extend help to those who are in need,” Bosang added.
This is proof that with a little compassion and a concert, many lives can be saved from the deadly bite of mosquitoes.
