On Saturday, October 5, fishermen discovered the lifeless body of a man floating in the waters off Barangay Diora–Zinungan in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.
His body had started to decompose.
According to the police, the body was identified as 57-year-old fisherman Arturo Redolia, a resident of the said barangay.
Redolia was reported missing on October 3 after he went out to sea on his boat.
The weather was reportedly still rough at the time he ventured out, and it is believed that his boat was struck by large waves, causing it to capsize and him to drown.
Some people saw his boat capsize.
Due to bad weather, authorities had difficulty conducting search and retrieval operations.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) added that the fisherman went to sea despite warnings from the Coast Guard prohibiting small vessels from sailing.
